Justine Smith is a London-based artist who produces collages, prints and sculptures which explore the concept of money and how it touches almost every aspect of our lives. In this piece, Smith covers her grenade with a five dollar note depicting Abraham Lincoln. In choosing to combine Lincoln, who fought to abolish slavery, with this weapon of war, Smith urges us to consider how African Americans continue to fight for civil and social freedom.  This silkscreen giclée print is from a limited edition of 25, signed and numbered by the artist.
